123Dentist is pleased to make our Guidelines for Re-Opening Your Practice Post COVID-19 available to all of our 123Dentist members and the entire Canadian dental community.

Please read below a welcome message from our CEO, Dr. Amin Shivji, and then provide us with some contact information and you will be provided access to our guidelines, downloadable forms, signage, and sample correspondence.

Dear Colleagues, 123Dentist Team Members, and all members of the Canadian dental community,

We are all excited about the prospect of heading back to work after this unprecedented experience. I know that it has been a challenging time for you and your families, but we look forward to returning together with our dental family and to once again provide exceptional care to our patients.

It will not be a smooth transition back to our normal working operations and we still do not know how long it will be until we can practice in a manner similar to the past, but we are in this together and will come out stronger as a result. I provide this guidance on every one of our partnership transitions, and it remains true and relevant in our current situation: change can be overwhelming, but by working together while committing to our collective success, we will achieve a successful outcome.

One thing that has forever changed as a result of this pandemic is the way our patients view viruses and infections. Patients are now more well-versed than ever about the risks of transmitting viruses and diseases, and it is our responsibility to provide them with the knowledge and comfort that each 123Dentist practice is a safe and sterile environment.  We have therefore provided these resources and recommendations for the re-opening of our practices to ensure we continue to provide the very best care and to remind them of the importance of maintaining proper oral health.

Please take the time to read and learn more about what we are doing to protect our most important assets – our staff and our patients.  These are broad recommendations and we acknowledge that, given our national presence and the different practice sizes, layouts and operating structures, you will have to work as a team to tailor these to your unique circumstances.

I also want to highlight that guidelines from the provincial Colleges and public health authorities are updated frequently, so please ensure that you adhere to all recommendations provided by them. Finally, any details not specifically addressed in these guidelines are left up to the professional judgment of each of you.
